UCCS Reports Record Spring Enrollment With 14,200 Students

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs has reached a record spring enrollment of 14,200 students, surpassing the previous high set in 2024 by nearly 800 students. Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet attributed the growth to expanded degree programs in cybersecurity, healthcare administration, and data science, as well as new partnerships with military installations in the region.

The fastest-growing programs are in the College of Engineering and Applied Science, where enrollment has increased 22 percent year-over-year. UCCS recently launched a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence, one of the first undergraduate AI-specific degrees offered by a public university in Colorado. The program attracted 180 students in its inaugural semester.

Graduate enrollment has also surged, driven by a new online MBA program that has drawn working professionals from across the state. The MBA program offers evening and weekend courses, with many students continuing their careers at Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, and Schriever Space Force Base while completing their degrees. Military-connected students now represent 28 percent of total enrollment.

To accommodate the growth, UCCS has broken ground on a new academic building that will house classrooms, research labs, and faculty offices for the engineering and computer science departments. The $65 million building is expected to open in fall 2027. Campus housing has also expanded with the addition of a 400-bed residence hall that opened in January.
