The Pikes Peak Courier is an independent digital news publication dedicated to providing accurate, timely coverage of the Colorado Springs metropolitan area and the greater Pikes Peak region. Our Team
Katherine Mercer, Editor-in-Chief. Katherine has covered Colorado politics and government for over 15 years, previously serving as city hall reporter for a regional newspaper. She holds a journalism degree from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Daniel Ortega, Senior Reporter. Daniel covers business, economic development, and real estate across the Pikes Peak region. Before joining the Courier, he reported on Western land use and natural resources for a national wire service.
Jessica Yamamoto, Sports and Outdoors Editor. A Colorado Springs native and avid trail runner, Jessica brings firsthand knowledge of the region's outdoor culture to her coverage of recreation, adventure sports, and high school and collegiate athletics.
Marcus Hale, Community Reporter. Marcus covers education, nonprofits, arts, and community organizations throughout El Paso and Teller counties. He is a graduate of the UCCS communication program.
