The Broadmoor Hotel Announces 150th Anniversary Celebration Plans
The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs' legendary five-star resort, has unveiled plans for a year-long celebration marking its 150th anniversary. The festivities, running from June 2026 through June 2027, will include a series of gala events, historical exhibitions, community open days, and a special anniversary culinary series featuring guest chefs from around the world.
General Manager Jack Damioli announced that the celebration will kick off with a Grand Anniversary Gala on June 29, featuring live entertainment, fireworks over Cheyenne Lake, and a black-tie dinner showcasing dishes inspired by the hotel's most iconic menus from the past century and a half. Tickets for the gala are priced at $500 per person, with proceeds benefiting local education and conservation charities.
Throughout the anniversary year, the hotel will host monthly community open days offering free guided tours of the property, including areas not typically accessible to the public such as the underground tunnels, the original boiler room, and the penthouse suite where presidents and dignitaries have stayed. A new permanent historical exhibit in the hotel's lower level will display artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia spanning the resort's entire history.
The Broadmoor, built by Spencer Penrose and opened in 1918, has hosted nine U.S. presidents, countless celebrities, and world leaders. The resort encompasses 5,000 acres, three championship golf courses, a spa, multiple restaurants, and the recently added Broadmoor Wilderness Experience adventure program. Damioli said the anniversary celebrations are an opportunity to honor the hotel's heritage while looking toward its next chapter.
