Three Woodland Park High School girls are expected to sign their national letters of intent today.
Hannah Erickson will ink her deal with Western State, where she will compete for the school in throws. Dannielle “Danni” Lopez (softball) is signing with Friends (Wichita, Kansas) University, and Michaela Huntington (softball) is signing with Bethany (Lindsborg, Kansas) College.
A ceremony will take place in the school's library beginning at 3:15 p.m.
PANTHERS GIRLS SPLIT TWO ON HARDWOOD
The Woodland Park girls basketball team split a pair of Class 4A Metro League games last week. The Panthers lost to Coronado, 41-33, and defeated Wasson, 42-36.
Senior forward Elin Saxon had 12 points against Coronado to lead the squad. Also contributing were fellow seniors Hannah Erickson (7), Michelle Franke (5) and Michaela Huntington (4).
PIONEERS SPLIT A PAIR
The Cripple Creek-Victor boys basketball team split a pair of games last week.
Pioneers senior Chris Irelan scored 31 points and added 11 rebounds against the Doherty junior varsity team on Jan. 30. Sophomore Cody Rice added 18 points as Cripple Creek-Victor rolled to a 76-60 victory.
On Feb. 1, the Pioneers lost to Custer 75-44 in a 2A Southern Peaks League game. Cripple Creek-Victor is 3-9 overall, 0-3 in league).
The Pioneers host Sanford on Friday and travel to Cotopaxi on Saturday.
CHSAA CHARGING TO WATCH PLAYOFFS ONLINE
The Colorado High School Activities Association will be charging folks to watch the playoffs online this season.
It starts on Friday with girls swimming and diving state finals. CHSAA will charge subscribers $3.95 for a day of viewing, $6.95 for a week and $9.95 for a month.
In previous years, CHSAA has offered any state playoffs or tournaments for free on chsaa.tv. Now, CHSAA will be charging to view its events via Play On Sports!
